Why infections keep coming back is rarely explained
Most treatment approaches focus on the organism - the bacteria, the yeast, the pathogen. They identify it, eliminate it, and consider the problem solved. But if the problem were simply the organism, treatment would work permanently. For many people, it does not.
Infection After Infection presents a different framework. One grounded in 25 years of clinical practice and focused on a question that rarely gets asked: why is this person susceptible in the first place?
The answer lies beneath the surface
The body has an internal skin - a continuous epithelial lining running through the sinuses, lungs, digestive tract, bladder, and reproductive tract. When this surface is healthy, it manages most exposures without consequence. When it is chronically inflamed, ordinary exposures become recurring infections.
What inflames it is often not what people expect.
The food connection most people miss
The immune system can react to foods in two very different ways. Immediate reactions - hives, swelling, digestive distress - are obvious. Delayed reactions are not. Mediated by IgG and IgA antibodies rather than IgE, these responses can take one to three days to produce noticeable symptoms. By that point, the connection between cause and effect has effectively disappeared.
When the triggering food is consumed regularly, the immune response never fully resolves. The inflammation is continuous, low-grade, and largely invisible. And the internal surface it affects becomes progressively more vulnerable to the very infections that keep returning.

Dr. Woodworth walks through the complete mechanism - from barrier dysfunction to immune strain to the specific conditions where this pattern most commonly appears:

Why standard dietary approaches often fall short
This book explains why elimination diets so often produce unclear results. When multiple foods are contributing simultaneously and reactions are delayed by days, removing one food at a time cannot produce a readable signal. The approach required is more structured than most people have attempted - and more specific than any generic anti-inflammatory food list can provide.
