I did not write this book from a library. I wrote it from a hospital bed, a year of not being able to eat, a four-hour surgery, a stroke, and decades of chronic suffering that conventional medicine could not explain and the food industry had every reason to conceal.
I wrote it because somebody needed to tell you the truth. Not the commercially convenient truth, but the actual, biological, evolutionary truth about what the human body is designed to eat, how it is designed to move, and what it needs to thrive, not just survive, on your own terms.
This is not a diet book in the conventional sense. No calorie counting, no macros, no six-week transformation promise. The truth here is both simpler and more radical than anything the health industry has ever sold you.
You will learn that the war on saturated fat was built on fraudulent science funded by the sugar industry. That cholesterol is not your enemy but one of the most essential molecules in your body.
That dietary fibre is not the necessity it has been marketed as, and for many, including me, it is actively destructive. That grains and seed oils are quietly wrecking your metabolism, and the Standard American Diet is a pathway to chronic disease and premature death.
Then I show you what to do instead: what the human body was actually built to eat, how it prefers to fuel itself, and how to build the psychological foundation that makes lasting change stick.
MY STORY, THE SHORT VERSION
At eighteen, I stood at the start gate of the Slalom at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, representing Great Britain, the youngest British Senior Ski Racing Champion in history, ranked in the world's top twenty.
A training accident ended my competitive career. I ate what I was told to eat, vegetables, legumes, wholegrains, the full Standard American Diet, and my body fell apart: celiac disease, leaky gut, a four-hour surgery that nearly killed me, a year of not being able to eat, twenty kilograms lost to devastation, then a stroke at 46.
When I finally found the truth, through desperation and the mentorship of Mark Sisson, founder of the Primal Health Coaching Institute, the transformation was not gradual. Within three months I had lost sixty pounds, rebuilt lean muscle, and reclaimed an energy and clarity I hadn't felt in years. I was alive in a way I had forgotten was possible.
