This book is written for people living with fibromyalgia who are tired of being told it is just fibromyalgia. For years I was stuck on the NHS merry go round, pain clinic, physio, GP, new medications, back to pain clinic, going round in circles while I kept getting worse. Then I lost my career to it. That was the point I stopped and started researching it myself.
This book answers the most common questions I am still seeing in support groups, using everything I learned the hard way and the research that actually backs it up.
Its core message is simple. Fibromyalgia is a real clinical pattern, but the label often becomes a ceiling that stops further investigation. Underneath it can sit treatable conditions, from arthritis and disc disease to hormone problems and the effects of trauma, that deserve proper attention.
While written primarily for patients, the book also connects important dots for doctors, researchers and clinicians who do not always have time to dig through the research on their own patients.
If this book helps even one person just get one symptom properly investigated and treated instead of being blamed on fibromyalgia, then it has done its job.
