A Mother's Call is a poetic diary filled with motherhood and womanhood advice in a call-and-response sort of way.
I have given several testimonials and lent advice while also receiving advice from some mothers in my life as a transition into my thirties.
When I look in the mirror, I only see me. Dear God, I wish I could see myself the way you see me. When I stand in the classrooms, I can't help but wonder why you chose me to imprint on these little minds. Do they see me the way you do? Or do they sense the insecurities I try to hide and the flaws I know to be true?
A generation so quirky and pure, yet so plagued by the standards of societal lies. The world sees their quirks and complexities as a hindrance, but only if they'd allow themselves to experience the brilliance inside, they'd change their minds. Little girls ages nine to thirteen, embarking on a journey so mean. When they look in the mirror, I hope they see what you and I see. I hope their mirrors aren't stained by the make-up and lies that peer-pressure brings. Young queens in the making are what they are to me. Little butterflies that I get to watch transform beautifully. Let not the world tell you where to stand. Let them not tell you how to apply your hand.
