Its not surprising when you consider its one of the most common operations. More than a million operations a year are performed in the United States alone.
You would think we had this operation perfected to the point that recurrences are almost 0 but its not true, the recurrence rate is between 1-20% depending on the type of hernia you have and your lifestyle. These numbers do not account for all the millions living uncomfortably with their hernia for the rest of their life, unable to do the things they want to do.
