Brent Maxson, John Gregos, and John Price grew up near Cherry Park in Southeast Portland. More than sixty years later, their friendship carries them to fishing boats on the Baja Peninsula and to the Lake Chapala area, where John is receiving rehabilitation. The trips bring plenty of fish stories and laughter, along with honest conversations about health, independence, and what it means to show up for one another.
In this illustrated memoir, Brent recounts the people, meals, and places that became part of their adventures: days on the water in Baja, a visit to Casa Zoe, a dinner with its founder Ricardo Gomez, and streets dressed in Mexico's colors for Independence Day. The photographs give readers a place at the table and a view from the boat.
Amigos in Lake Chapala and on The Baja is a warm, personal story about three longtime friends finding new reasons to travel together-and discovering that the road ahead is still open.
