Rather than relying on centralized, manual intervention to dictate market outcomes, Amazon has constructed a digital ecosystem where decentralized market forces-guided by proprietary algorithms, customer feedback loops, and intense merchant competition-automatically optimize prices, expand product selection, and streamline distribution channels.
The Algorithmic Invisible Hand and Dynamic PricingIn classical economics, the invisible hand operates through price signals that fluctuate based on supply and demand. In Amazon: Organizational Successful Factors, my mind explains that Amazon has modernized this process by replacing human merchants with sophisticated dynamic pricing algorithms. These algorithms continuously scan the global e-commerce landscape, adjusting millions of prices in real-time based on competitor pricing, inventory levels, and consumer demand patterns.
