Applying my Demand Theory and Behavioral Economics to Space Nationalism
When analyzing why nations behave competitively in the cosmic arena, my work in behavioral economics and market theory provides a vital framework. While classical economics views actors as entirely rational maximizers of utility, my view emphasizes that human-and by extension, governmental and corporate-decision-making is heavily influenced by psychological biases, perceived value, and cognitive framing.
Applying my demand concepts and behavioral economic principles to space nationalism involves several key dimensions: Perceived Value and Psychological Framing: Just as consumer demand is driven by how a product is perceived rather than its intrinsic utility alone, space nationalism is propelled by the perceived existential and cultural value of being a space-faring civilization. National leaders utilize cognitive framing to convince domestic populations that interplanetary dominance is essential for national identity, artificially inflating the public demand for massive space budgets.
