Before I knew better, I tried to hide the very thing that gave me individuality and strength. Today, I consider cerebral palsy a blessing, one that benefited my life in far more ways than it hurt.
In this award-winning book, the author shares poems revealing life growing up and aging with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Each poem is accompanied by a short note explaining what inspired that poem. Some aspects of life are recalled as good; others, with forthright honesty, are not. Even with such challenges, the author exudes a positive attitude, remembering life as more good times than bad.
Many people have gone through similar times: If, by chance, you know one of the 500,000 or so Americans with CP, share the poems with them. They are the reason they were written. A lifelong disability does not have to be a lesser life as this successful educator and author proves.
I am not alone on my journey. I wish for others a life as blessed as mine.
