Let me tell you what nobody tells you about becoming a nudist.

They don't tell you about the first time you stand in your living room with nothing on and the blinds open by accident and your neighbor is walking his dog and you make eye contact through the window and you both just sort of commit to pretending it didn't happen and you live with that for the rest of the time you own that house.

They don't tell you about the learning curve of figuring out which social situations are nudist-appropriate and which ones are very much not, a distinction that seems obvious in theory and is occasionally less obvious in practice when you've had two glasses of wine and you're at a backyard party and it's very warm outside and you're thinking, well, we're all friends here, and then you look around and realize that actually you are not all friends in that specific way.

They don't tell you about the moment nudism stops being a thing you're trying and becomes a thing you are, which happens quietly and without announcement and which you only recognize in retrospect, usually when you're in a hotel room somewhere and the first thing you do when the door closes is take everything off and stand at the window looking at whatever city you're in and you think: oh. This is just who I am now.
