The Word Factory Theory: Behavioral Architecture and the Construction of Identity introduces a new structural framework for understanding personality - not as a fixed set of traits, but as a constructed behavioral system.
Developed by Katrina Stradford and Passion Stradford, the Word Factory Theory proposes that behavior is built through measurable polarity intensity and shaped by a sequence of structural operators. Rather than labeling individuals as inherently reactive, rigid, emotional, or inconsistent, the model reframes behavior as the outcome of construction patterns that can be mapped, reinforced, destabilized, and recalibrated.
At the core of the theory is Polarity Mathematics, a -8 to +8 intensity scale that quantifies emotional magnitude and directional force. When traits combine, they generate dual-trait equations that determine behavioral position on a structural graph. These positions influence regulation, response stability, and overload risk.
The framework introduces a set of Structural Operators - including Bond, Compound, Director, Prefix, Word Part, Suffix, and Switch - which function as the workforce of behavioral construction. Together, they assemble what Stradford calls a Personality Script: the patterned sequence that produces observable behavior.
