From its Sanford, Maine, roots as a small family business in 1949, The Baker Company's focus was the emerging field of contamination. The company's founder, Arthur Baker, was an engineer; in 1957 he hired Jack Eagleson as a management consultant and to oversee operations. Nine years later, Jack bought the business-a year after his son Dennis, the author of this book, joined the firm.
With a commitment to integrity, unwavering ethics, and hard work, Jack built an exceptional team while expanding the product line and growing the company into an international organization. This story provides a window into how it happened-from equipment, technology, and learning from customers, to developing a reliable brand promise and a strong management group, and creating a multifaceted customer base. Part memoir, part window into the field, and part instruction manual for career success (no matter the field), each chapter offers a winnable philosophy for today's business world.
The Baker Company is now operated by the third generation of Eaglesons, who carry out Jack's legacy by continuing to Fight The Good Fight.
