This cookbook originates from the Colorado mountain community of Park County, the home of South Park. Longtime county residents contributed recipes, images, and history within the cookbook to benefit the establishment of a Platte Canyon Health Services District in Northeast Park County. The recipes are necessarily high-altitude focused, and the images reflect the region's beauty and the incredible diversity of animal and plant life. The brief histories reflect the authentic story of westward expansion in the 19th century, the discovery of gold in them thar hills, the Ute Native population, and the gradual development of what is today a county the size of Delaware, with a population of less than 20,000 people.
