Leaders and organizations have failed without leadership coaching that reflects the practices of the Sande Society Chieftains of West Africa. The Sande Leadership attributes were uncovered through this past connection to how life skills schools and provinces were operated by Sande Chieftains. The attributes were then connected to leadership of descendants of the African Diaspora that the author also experienced as a leader. The executives' and managers' narratives are interpreted to identify life path and sustainable practice reflective of 16 Sande leadership attributes. These attributes were uncovered in the development of the Sande Leadership Coaching construct. The balance between authentic-self and stake holder desires are elucidated in descendants of the African Diaspora whose ancestors were transported as slaves to ports in the United States during the 17th through 19th century Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Through this connection of the past to the present, the Sande Leadership attributes emerge as strategies for a sustainable future for all leaders that identify with overcoming barriers to leadership rooted in unsustainable practice.
