Michelle Williams never intended to write a poetry book. She began writing simply as a way to get through one of the hardest chapters of her life.
After being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), Michelle spent a year battling aggressive blood cancer, enduring chemotherapy, hospital isolation, and ultimately a life-saving stem cell transplant from an anonymous donor. During the darkest moments of her journey, poetry became a lifeline - a way to process fear, grief, hope, resilience, and the fragile fight to stay alive.
Poetry for Purpose is a deeply personal collection of poems and reflections written through illness, survival, healing, and rebirth. Honest, heartfelt, and full of quiet courage, these pages explore what it means to face fear, hold onto hope, and rebuild a life after everything changes.

All proceeds from this book support Anthony Nolan and the Leukaemia, Transplant and Cellular Therapy Ward at University Hospital Southampton, helping support blood cancer patients facing long periods of treatment and hospital isolation.
