Loop Engineering turns those requirements into a control architecture for human-AI work. Its brain-and-body map helps teams locate failures in reasoning, memory, dialog, action, or tool use instead of blaming every problem on the model.
The architecture is governed by seven design commitments:
- Define a verifiable stop before the loop begins
- Separate maker from checker so the same blind spots do not produce and approve the work
- Preserve useful state across iterations and sessions
- Scale rigor and delegated autonomy to the cost of being wrong
- Frame the problem before solving it
- Make verification visible
- Record the debt and dead ends each shortcut leaves behind

About the author. Dr. Fabio Correa, DBA, writes fiction and nonfiction about human judgment and the boundary between human and artificial minds. He is Director of Business Analytics at Microsoft and creator of the AI Readiness Scale (AIRS). He teaches graduate MBA students and speaks about enterprise AI adoption and human-AI collaboration.
His Applied AI books include Loop Engineering: A Better Way to Think, Create, and Work with AI, The Defensible Decision, and The Defensible Decision: Practice Workbook. Together they explore how people can direct AI, test its work, preserve useful context, and make decisions that remain defensible after the tools change.
His fiction includes Alex in Wonderland, a middle-grade detective mystery in which puzzle-obsessed Alex Finch tumbles into an underground city of logic and impossible architecture and must solve twenty interconnected mysteries to find her way home.
