The globe amaranth (Gomphrena globosa L.) is a member of the Amaranthaceae family and is native to India. Bachelor's button and eternal blossom are some names for it. It is one of most important loose flowers grown in India. Cut flowers and dried blooms from Gomphrena have been used in garlands, pomanders, bouquets, floral arrangements, and indoor decorating. Nitrogen improves the vegetative growth and plant spacing in field is very important and plays a significant role in determining plant growth and development. There is scanty information on the effect of nitrogen and plant spacing on growth, flowering and yield in Gomphrena particularly in South Saurashtra region. Hence, need has been felt to standardize the suitable level of nitrogen and plant spacing in Gomphrena. For commercialization of this crop owing to the reasons that nitrogen and plant spacing play a vital role in obtaining the better growth and flower yield of Gomphrena.
