I'll never forget the day I was given the definitive diagnosis following three months of extensive medical tests. Multiple sclerosis. It was 27 May 2014. On that day, my world as I knew it was torn apart. The MRI and lumbar puncture revealed that I had more than thirty lesions on my brain and about as many again on my spinal cord. The doctors were quick to tell me that it was very likely that I wouldn't be able to walk within a year and that we would have to start aggressive treatments before long. Upon hearing the news, I started to cry inconsolably. Someone in consultation room told me not to cry. What the hell did they mean Don't cry!?

My intuition was telling me that there was more; that somehow everything that was happening to me was the consequence of how bad my life had become over the last few years. Day by day, I had slowly dug myself deeper and deeper into a massive hole and now there was no way out.

Over two and a half years later, on 31 January 2017, I had the second MRI scan which showed there were no new lesions on my brain; the old ones had started to appear as scars and all the symptoms had long since disappeared.

Pretty much everything I am going to explain in the following pages is free, easy and will not harm you. Well, maybe not easy. It takes a lot of effort because it means taking responsibility for your own life and that takes courage. It's so scary but I've come to realize that I've got a lot more courage than I thought!
