Before James Nealy entered a coma following a devastating scooter accident in Thailand, grief had already placed part of his life on pause. His sister, Jazzy, was murdered one week after they celebrated his twenty-fifth birthday together. Later, cancer took his mother-the woman who planted the foundation of faith he would eventually need to survive.
Searching for freedom, adventure, and a new beginning, James traveled across Southeast Asia, explored Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, and started Fresh Fusion Smoothie. But distance could not erase the pain he carried.
Then an ordinary supply run changed everything.
After awakening in a Thai hospital with no memory of the accident, James faced a second journey: rebuilding his memory, body, independence, faith, and purpose. His own recorded writings became a bridge back to consciousness. His Thai girlfriend, Mickey, remained beside him, cleaning and caring for him when he could not care for himself. When he could not immediately return to full-body massage, a massage chair became the doorway back to his calling.
From Coma to Calling II is an honest faith memoir about grief, survival, emotional numbness, receiving help, and learning to begin again before healing is complete.
This is not only the story of waking from a physical coma.
It is the story of waking up twice.
