Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. The flu can affect people of all ages and can lead to mild to severe symptoms. It is characterized by the sudden onset of symptoms and can result in seasonal outbreaks, often during the fall and winter months.
