You give the same feedback to two people. One lights up. The other shuts down. You assign similar projects. One thrives; the other struggles. Same input, different outcomes, and nobody ever explained why.
You're not imagining it. And you're not doing anything wrong. You've just been taught that treating everyone the same is what fair looks like.
Fit-First Leadership is a practical playbook built on the Motivation Code framework and the MCode assessment - the same eight Motivational Dimensions covered in depth across the MCode Dimension book series, gathered here into one field guide for the person who leads all eight.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
- Read your team before anyone takes an assessment. Identify each person's motivational pattern through observation alone.
- Speak their language. Communicate in ways that land differently with different people, instead of wondering why your message didn't get through.
- Assign work that energizes instead of drains. Match tasks to the person who'll actually thrive doing them.
- Recognize and motivate each person meaningfully. Learn what acknowledgment means to them, not just to you.
- Predict conflict before it happens. Understand which pairings create friction, and how to turn that friction into complementary strength.
- Build balanced teams, hire for fit, and onboard by Dimension. Put the right wiring in the right seat from day one.
- Lead from your own Dimension without imposing it. See where your wiring helps you, and where it quietly gets in the way.
That team member who seems resistant to feedback might be a Learner who needs to understand the why before they can act on the what. Your high performer who suddenly went quiet might be an Achiever stuck in maintenance work with nothing to excel at. The two people who keep clashing might be a classic Driver and Orchestrator, one pushing for speed and the other for structure. None of that is a mystery. It's just learning to see what was always there.
Whether you lead a team of three or three hundred, whether you've taken the MCode assessment or you're discovering the framework here for the first time, Fit-First Leadership will help you stop guessing about your people and start leading each of them the way they're actually wired.
