What if the life you've built no longer reflects who you truly are, and the only way forward is to pause?
In As You Are, Zara Affleck offers a deeply personal and quietly powerful journey into awareness, self-discovery, and the courage to slow down. From the high-pressure world of paramedicine to the stillness of meditation cushions and yoga mats, this book traces the subtle unraveling of a life lived on autopilot, and the gentle rebuilding that follows.
This is not a guide filled with rigid rules or quick fixes. Instead, it's an honest reflection of what happens when you finally stop running from your thoughts, your emotions, and yourself.
Through vivid storytelling and intimate reflections, Zara explores:
- The difference between exhaustion and true rest
- How awareness begins not as calm, but as disruption
- The body's quiet language, and what it's been trying to tell you
- Letting go of performance, expectations, and external validation
- Finding peace not by changing your life, but by learning to inhabit it
Raw, grounding, and profoundly relatable, As You Are invites you into the uncomfortable yet transformative space of simply being. It reminds you that growth isn't about becoming someone new, it's about returning to who you've always been.
If you've ever felt disconnected, overwhelmed, or quietly out of alignment, this book offers something rare: not answers, but permission.
Permission to pause.
Permission to feel.
Permission to begin again, exactly as you are.
