Aren't You Embarrassed
The Tales of Guest Comments That Should Have Been Inside Thoughts
Have you ever left work replaying a conversation in your head, wondering how a perfectly reasonable interaction somehow went completely off the rails?
If you've worked in hospitality, customer service, healthcare, wellness, retail, education, or any profession that requires caring for people, you've probably experienced it.
The guest who receives exactly what they asked for and still leaves angry.
The customer who demands an exception, receives the exception, and then complains about the exception.
The person who mistakes a boundary for an attack.
The coworker who creates chaos and calls it teamwork.
The stranger on social media who turns another human being into entertainment.
In Aren't You Embarrassed, Mickaela Summers shares hilarious, frustrating, heartbreaking, and unforgettable stories gathered from years spent working with the public as a massage therapist, educator, EMT, business owner, spa manager, and leader.
Through outrageous guest encounters, impossible expectations, workplace drama, lessons in leadership, and moments that will leave you laughing out loud, Summers explores a deeper truth:
This isn't really a book about difficult people.
It's a book about boundaries.
It's a book about burnout.
It's a book about self-worth.
It's a book about emotional labor.
And ultimately, it's a book about being human.
Filled with humor, honesty, and hard-earned wisdom, Aren't You Embarrassed reminds readers that another person's behavior is not a reflection of their value, that kindness and boundaries can coexist, and that the people who spend their lives caring for others deserve compassion too.
Whether you've ever worked a front desk, answered a customer complaint, cared for a patient, taught a class, served a table, managed a team, or simply tried to navigate life with grace while dealing with difficult people, you'll find yourself somewhere in these pages.
You may laugh.
You may cringe.
You may recognize someone you know.
You may even recognize yourself.
But most importantly, you'll be reminded that behind every story is a human being-and every human being has value.
For the ones who show up, hold it down, and still choose kindness. This book is for you.
