If you read, understand, and apply these 31 principles, your leadership's effectiveness will rise to a greater height. Although it is meant to be read as a daily devotion for each day for a month, you can read two, three, or more principles a day, depending on your reading speed and understanding.
The important thing is your comprehension and application of these principles. Charles discusses leadership at a global level, but includes some discussions on African leadership specifically. The principles addressed in this book are applicable anywhere in the world and can be used in any community, country, or kingdom. These principles are meant to help every leader, wherever he or she may be, to lead well.
It is important we each know that the greatness of any human being, the ultimate success of any leader, is in the 'we', not in the 'me', doing well. Greatness is in my ability and your ability to rejoice in the others' success. The more I rejoice in the blessings of someone else, the closer to coming my blessing is. This means then, that jealousy, rivalry, and negative competition with others are all chasing after the wind. A leader blesses others. He empowers others. He throws a party to celebrate the success and achievements of others. He works with others to ensure community success. Wanting to be the only successful person in the community is not being a leader.
