What if the itching you feel during pregnancy isn't just normal?
This book comes from a place I never expected to be in-dealing with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (IHCP), a condition I had never even heard of before it became a part of my life.
It started with something small. Just itching.
This is not a medical textbook.
It is my story.
A story of going through a high-risk pregnancy while trying to stay calm on the outside and strong on the inside. A story of learning to listen to my body, asking questions, making small changes, and finding ways to cope-physically and emotionally.
There were moments of fear, confusion, and uncertainty. There were also moments of clarity, strength, and quiet resilience. Like many others, I was searching for answers, reassurance, and something that made sense of what I was going through. Information was limited, and most of what I found did not reflect the emotional reality of living with this condition.
This book is my attempt to bridge that gap.
In these pages, I have shared what IHCP felt like beyond reports and numbers. I have spoken about the emotional ups and downs that often remain unspoken, the importance of trusting your instincts, and the small but meaningful changes that helped me manage this journey better. From diet and daily routine to mindset shifts, these were not instant solutions, but they made a difference over time.
This book is for any expecting mother who feels that something is off but cannot fully explain it. It is for families who are trying to understand what their loved one is going through. And it is for anyone who believes that awareness and timely action can truly matter.
I am not here to give medical advice, but to share an experience. One that taught me patience, awareness, and the importance of staying connected to my own body and mind.
If you are going through something similar, I hope this book gives you a sense of comfort and clarity. If you are supporting someone who is, I hope it helps you understand their journey a little better.
You are not overthinking.
You are not being too cautious.
And you are not alone.
Sometimes, what seems small is not small.
And sometimes, listening to your body can change everything.
