He chose this patrol because the tracks draw a clear path from sunrise to moonrise, and because passengers smile and wave. He counts whistles like treats-one for awake, two for ready, three for go-and when the third note lifts, he banks into place beside the day, part lookout, part lighthouse.

On the morning, this tale begins, the Riverbend Limited is full for Pine Ridge's Harvest Festival. Families shoulder picnic baskets, musicians cradle violin cases, hikers tighten laces. The station clock blinks at 9:02 as Engineer Harrell reads glowing gauges and Conductor Ms. Kaur ushers last boarders with calm authority. In Car Three, siblings Maya and Leo press to the glass, sketchbooks open, eager to catch mountains and clouds before they drift away.

A silver whistle gilds the air; Locomotive No. 407 growls, and the reassuring song rises from the rail. Circling high, Aero watches-content, alert. He does not yet know the brakes will falter, that a steep curve and a long bridge wait ahead, or that a title hides inside the day. But he knows his vow: if the music of the rails stumbles, he will listen harder, fly faster, and help the promise hold.
