Little Gigi, a young giraffe with a caramel patchwork coat, always rose before dawn to greet the African sun. When she folded her knees to drink, she often bumped heads with antelopes; playing hide-and-seek with meerkats she was spotted at once, her bright spots poking above the grass like lanterns on stilts. A spark flared inside Gigi. Her long neck, she realized, could be a bridge, not a boundary. With a hopeful stomp that startled dozing beetles, she vowed to wander beyond the familiar acacia fringe, gather every rooftop secret the sky would share, and return them to friends who could not reach on their own. She set off smiling, ears tingling with sunrise, heart humming with questions only new horizons could answer today.
