The purpose of these two works is to help Buddhists who have little time to study the Dharma, to have the good fortune to learn and quickly approach a part of the quintessence of the profound Huayan philosophy and then be able to apply the Bodhisattva ideal in daily practice through the image of Sudhana Kumāra who tirelessly travels to study the Dharma.
We bow our heads in gratitude to the Venerable Elder Master Hải Triều Âm and many other venerable monks and practitioners who drew the Avataṃsaka Sūtra map so that we can follow it and clearly see the path of practice to the Avataṃsaka Sūtra Tower. Special thanks to Bhikṣuṇī Đức TrÃ, Mark Woodworth, Pamela Kirby, and Mr. Vũ Đình Trọng for their invaluable assistance with editing, proofreading, design, and the publication of this book.
The profound and mysterious world of Vairocana Buddha is the world and wisdom of those who have experienced and realized that we have boldly used worldly language to attempt to explain the philosophy and to describe it based on our limited understanding, so there will be many mistakes. We respectfully hope that Venerable Monks and Nuns, esteemed Dharma masters, and Avataṃsaka practitioners alike will compassionately offer their guidance and comments, so that the Buddha's teachings may penetrate more deeply into the hearts of living beings in this age of electronic technology and online resources. May they come to understand that the world of atomic matter and the mind-nature of the Dharma Realm are, in their true nature, neither dual nor one.
We respectfully bow and express our gratitude to the Venerable Masters and all those Buddhists who have supported and accompanied us in our mission of heart-devotion: Serving all living beings is the ultimate offering to the Buddha.
We respectfully bow and vow to follow the merits and virtues of Vairocana Buddha, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Good Deities in the Avataṃsaka Assembly:
The Tathāgatas of the three times (the past, the present, and the future), masters of the path,
Whose vast wisdom and vows are beyond comprehension,
In immeasurable buddha-fields, countless realms,
A single thought of the Tathāgata manifests Thusness:
Homage to Vairocana Buddha, the Lord of the Lotus Treasury World, the Adorned Buddha-fields.
Homage to the perfect and unobstructed Dharma,
May the Avataṃsaka Sūtra, the Great Vaipulya Buddha Flower Garland Scripture, be the great testament.
Perris, California, Hương Sen Summer, May 2023
Respectfully,
Post-student: Bhikṣuṇī TN Giới Hương
