A 3x2 factorial experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of alpha-tochopherol (Vitamin-E) on the growth performance and fillet quality of Pangasius hypophthalmus in monoculture system installed in earthen pond for 125 days feeding period. The triplicate groups containing 15000 fish were fed DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (0, 90 and 300 mg/Kg diet). The result revealed that alpha-tocopherol deficient fish exhibited poor growth performance compared to fish fed with alpha-tocopherol supplemented diets. The BWG, SGR, Protein index and percentage weight gain is effected positively by the amount of Vitamin-E supplementation. Alpha-tocopherol has significant effect on the proximate composition of feed. Lipid content, ash and alpha-tocopherol level of fillet quality is positively affected by the amount of DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate in diet. But moisture content and crude protein contain is not affected positively by Vitamin-E supplementation. The maximum yield is 4218.75 378.94 kg/ha/yr, obtained from T2, fed with the diet containing 90mg/kg diet DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate.
