Chinese Buddhist philosophy reflects the ways in which Chinese Buddhist scholars understand the universe, human life, and the practices of spiritual cultivation. This book represents a systematic and comprehensive study of Chinese Buddhist philosophical thought. The author, Fang Litian, draws primarily from the Buddhist writings of Chinese thinkers, seeking to identify the key philosophical issues within Chinese Buddhism and to outline the contours of its philosophical system. Through five thematic sections-General Introduction, Philosophy of Human Life, Philosophy of Mind-Nature, Philosophy of the Universe, and Philosophy of Practice-the book traces the origins, debates, evolution, and historical development of key issues in Chinese Buddhist philosophy. It also makes comparisons with Indian Buddhist philosophy as well as with indigenous Chinese Confucian and Daoist philosophical traditions, revealing the dynamic interactions among these different schools of thought. On this basis, the author summarizes the fundamental characteristics and developmental patterns of Chinese Buddhist philosophical thought. 中国佛教哲学反映了中国佛教学者对宇宙人生和修持实践的看法与主张。本书是对中国佛教哲学思想的系统、整体研究的成果。作者方立天从中国人的佛教著作出发，力图从中梳理出中国佛教的重要哲学问题，勾画出中国佛教哲学体系。本书通过总论、人生论、心性论、宇宙论和实践论五编的专题论述，阐明中国佛教哲学问题的滥觞、论辩、演变与发展的历史轨迹，并与印度佛教哲学以及中国固有的儒、道哲学思想加以比较，以显示其间不同观点之间的互动进程，进而总结中国佛教哲学思维的基本特点和发展规律。 Fang Litian (1933-2014), a native of Yongkang, Zhejiang Province, was a first-level professor at Renmin University of China. He served as Director of the Institute for the Study of Buddhism and Religious Theory, Dean of the Institute for Advanced Study of Religion, a member of the Philosophy Division of the Social Science Committee under the Ministry of Education, and a senior research fellow at the Central Research Institute of Culture and History. His major works include Essentials of Chinese Buddhist Philosophy, Essays on Buddhism in the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties, Huiyuan and His Buddhist Thought, Fazang, An Annotated Edition of Huayan's Golden Lion Chapter, Chinese Buddhism and Traditional Culture, A History of the Development of Philosophical Issues in Ancient China, and the Collected Works of Fang Litian (6 volumes). Many of his works have been translated and published in English, Japanese, and Korean. 方立天(1933-2014)，浙江永康人。中国人民大学一级教授，曾任佛教与宗教学理论研究所所长、宗教高等研究院院长，教育部社会科学委员会哲学学部委员，中央文史研究馆馆员。著有《中国佛教哲学要义》、《魏晋南北朝佛教论丛》、《慧远及其佛学》、《法藏》、《华严金师子章校释》、《中国佛教与传统文化》、《中国古代哲学问题发展史》、《方立天文集》(6卷本)等，多种著作被译成英、日、韩文出版。
