In recent years rape has been a crop of farmers' interest in Bulgaria. Its importance as a valuable and rich in proteins crop also is determined by the fact that the vegetation is short, which makes it suitable for companion cropping. This requires rape to leave the area after harvesting clean of weeds. Allowing weeds in stands leads to thinning of plants, causes growth retardation, formation of weak plants and yield reduction. The reasons for application of herbicides in weed control in rapeseed are connected with the difficulties in mechanical tillage, creation of favorable conditions for germination, growth and development of the crop, also and uniform and high yielding stands. Herbicide diversity requires a thorough study of their use. Along with the duration and dose of application of each herbicide is also the resistance of the varieties to these herbicides. The objective of the present experiment is the efficiency and selectivity of herbicides to be determined, being applied in optimal and reduced doses in weed control in spring rape.
