Hear me plainly at the gate of the book. I do not preach cleverness; I preach wisdom, and they are not kin. Cleverness is the serpent's coin: skill without the fear of the LORD, strategy without love, optimization without an altar. Wisdom is another substance entirely: she was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was; she was daily the delight of the Almighty, rejoicing always before Him; and she came down to us and was made flesh, for Christ is made unto us wisdom. He that would be wise must therefore be joined, not merely informed; wisdom is a Person before she is a principle, and her school is a fellowship before it is a faculty.
And hear why the matter is urgent and not academic. The years 2026 unto 2050 stand before the nations as a valley of decision, and the deciding shall be done by minds: minds designing machineries that out-calculate their makers, minds drafting the laws of new powers, minds steering economies whose levers grow stranger by the year. In such decades the nation that hath wisdom shall walk in the light, and the nation that hath only cleverness shall optimize its way into the ditch. But thus saith the LORD: Refrain thy voice from weeping... for thy work shall be rewarded; and among the rewarded works of these years shall be the work of the wise: they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Therefore this volume marcheth in the order of the bow. First the wisdom that was before all worlds, set up from everlasting beside the throne. Then the Lamb, worthy to receive wisdom, who is Himself made unto us wisdom. Then the inheritance of understanding, for the third crown also is received by adoption and not achieved by aptitude. Then the three pillars and the four rivers, the same load-bearing scriptures of the series, now read with the eyes of the sage. Then the approval of wisdom, the five crowns as the graduation of the wise, the epochs of covenant understanding, and the 153 protocol of counsel. And at the last, one hundred forty and four declarations, twelve prayers, an oath, and a charge, that the book may end not as commentary but as candlepower in the mouth of thy house.
Come then, thou son, thou daughter, thou counselor of the coming decades. Bring thy questions as the queen of the south brought hers, over great distances and at great cost, and be not ashamed of their weight; a greater than Solomon is here. The Teacher standeth in the gate of this book as wisdom standeth in the gates of the city, crying: Unto you, O men, I call. The confusion is real; the Lamp is realer. Rachel weepeth; but Wisdom crieth without. Let the reading begin.
