The different names for drugs prepared from cannabis are hashish and marijuana. Names of English origin, such as Grass, Shit and Pot, are also commonly used. In Spanish, marijuana is commonly referred to by the first name maria. Other names from various cultures are bhang, charas, dagga, kif, gras, diamba, maconha and canapa. Hashish and marijuana are obtained respectively by harvesting the plants and sieving the resin, and by cutting the flowering tops at the start of the fruiting process. It is in the bracts and in the resin that the THC concentration is highest. The word hashish (cannabis resin) is of Arabic origin and means herb. Previously, it served as a generic term for different qualities of drugs. Today, it is used to design preparations rich in resin, generally offered in the form of compressed plates. Hashish of Mediterranean origin (Morocco, Turkey, Lebanon) has a color tending towards green or red (Lebanese red or Turkish green) while hashish of Asian origin (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India).
