Venezia is a metro station currently under construction on Line C of the Rome Metro system. Part of the third phase of the line, it is expected to open in 2015. It will become an interchange station when Line D is completed by 2020.Venezia station will be located underneath the Piazza Venezia, a large square in Pigna, rione IX of Rome. Upon its completion, it will be the closest station to the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, the Roman Forum, and the Capitoline Hill.Construction for Venezia station began in 2009 with a series of excavations. During these digs, archaeologists unearthed pieces of the Emperor Hadrian's Athaenium.
