Some of the most important people in the Bible have no name.

Hill walks through the gallery of Scripture's anonymous faithful - seventeen chapters of exegesis for the academy, the pulpit, and the pew - and uncovers the reason God left their names out of the human record: so that every ordinary believer, unremembered by history, might know that significance before God has never once depended on being remembered by men.
Woven through every chapter is the theology of the Divine memory - the God who remembers the faithful He could forget and forgets the sin He could remember. The God who would not let a king sleep until a forgotten man was honored. The God who says to a people history tried to erase, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
