Esta pregunta ha acompañado la historia del teatro desde la Antigüedad y ha dado origen a algunas de las teorÃas estéticas más influyentes de la cultura occidental y oriental. Actuar: teorÃa integrada propone una respuesta nueva: comprender la actuación como un único sistema expresivo capaz de integrar las aportaciones de las grandes escuelas actorales.
La obra dialoga con Bharata Muni, Platón, Aristóteles, Diderot, Goethe, Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Gordon Craig, Strasberg, Adler, Meisner, Michael Chéjov y Grotowski, mostrando que sus propuestas describen dimensiones diferentes de un mismo fenómeno artÃstico.
En el núcleo de esta sÃntesis aparecen tres aportes originales del autor: la Partitura Emotiva, que explica la organización temporal de las emociones durante la interpretación; el Ciclo Expresivo, que describe la interacción permanente entre pensamiento, imaginación, emoción, respiración, cuerpo, gesto y voz; y la Técnica Audiodimensional, que desarrolla una nueva teorÃa de la expresión vocal.
A través de numerosos ejemplos tomados del teatro y del cine, el libro conecta la reflexión filosófica con la práctica escénica, permitiendo comprender tanto la evolución histórica de la actuación como los principios que sustentan las grandes interpretaciones contemporáneas.
