About the Author: Janet Linton lives in the UK with her daughter Esme. She is a registered counsellor for the BACP. She works full-time at a sanction school, while also being self-employed and sub-contracted to Murray Hall Community Trust, where her counselling journey began on placement, while studying at City of Wolverhampton College.
Janet works across four platforms alongside companies, Better Help, Online Therapy, Psychology Today and the BACP. She has graduated twice, with both a level five diploma and Bachelor's degree and is currently studying for her master's degree at the University of Wolverhampton.

My story explores the damage done to the psyche of a child who was abused by the adults who should have cared for her. It will reveal the moments that shaped my behaviour as a young person, the effects that those moments had on my relationships with friends and family and the consequences I live with to this day, as an adult.
My story is also one of triumph. I have worked hard to break down barriers, both within and without. I have dedicated my career to helping others find strength within themselves and I will continue to help my clients foster their own wellbeing and build resilience. Ultimately, I have discovered the true meaning of love and found the strength within to break the cycle of abuse that scars my family history to this day.
Please be aware that some of the topics in this book may be uncomfortable to read. If you have experienced any kind of abuse or trauma, please ensure you read this book with open eyes, in a safe space and that you have your support network engaged. If you can, persevere with me till the end and see how my life has changed and is still transforming today.
