Rabbi Matzah: The Sukkot Book
Mike and Maya's Excellent Adventure
When the sukkah in Mike and Maya's backyard begins to wobble in the wind, a simple question turns into an unforgettable journey.
Guided by the ever-unexpected Rabbi Matzah, the children are transported beyond their backyard and into the heart of Sukkot - where fragile shelters glow under open desert skies, ancient wanderings come alive, and strength is revealed in surprising ways. What begins as curiosity becomes discovery, as the meaning behind the holiday unfolds not through explanation alone, but through lived experience.
Unlike traditional holiday summaries that list events and customs, The Sukkot Book invites readers to step inside the story. Children and adults alike encounter the purpose of the sukkah, the beauty of dwelling beneath the sky, and the quiet power of gratitude in a world that rarely slows down.
Richly illustrated with cinematic detail and warmth, this hardcover edition is designed to serve both as a storybook and as a teaching companion. It supports meaningful engagement at home, in classrooms, and in synagogue settings.
Included in this volume:
- A fully illustrated narrative adventure
- Clear explanations of Sukkot traditions woven naturally into story
- Glossary of key Hebrew terms
- Classic holiday songs
- Festive, family-friendly recipes
- Interactive activity and reflection pages
Blending imagination, humor, and thoughtful reflection, Rabbi Matzah offers a multigenerational reading experience. The story is accessible to children ages 6-10 while offering layered meaning for adults reading alongside them.
This volume is part of the Rabbi Matzah holiday collection - a series created to transform Jewish holidays from lessons into immersive experiences. Each book is crafted to encourage connection, conversation, and shared discovery around the table and beyond.
Beautifully produced in hardcover, Rabbi Matzah: The Sukkot Book is ideal for family libraries, Jewish day schools, religious education programs, synagogue gift shops, and holiday gift giving.
Temporary shelters. Lasting meaning.
