Rabbi Matzah: The Sukkot Book
Mike and Maya's Excellent Adventure
When the sukkah in Mike and Maya's backyard begins to wobble in the wind, what starts as a simple question becomes an unforgettable journey.
Guided by the ever-unexpected Rabbi Matzah, the children are transported beyond their backyard and into the heart of Sukkot - where fragile shelters glow under desert skies, ancient wanderings come alive, and strength is redefined in surprising ways.
Through cinematic storytelling and richly illustrated scenes, The Sukkot Book invites readers to step inside the holiday rather than simply read about it. Instead of listing traditions, the story immerses children and adults alike in the meaning behind them - exploring why we build a sukkah, what it means to dwell beneath open skies, and how gratitude can transform even temporary spaces into something lasting.
Designed for families, classrooms, and community settings, this beautifully crafted edition includes:
- A fully illustrated narrative adventure
- Clear, accessible explanations of Sukkot traditions
- Glossary of key Hebrew terms
- Classic holiday songs
- Festive recipes
- Interactive activity pages and discussion prompts
Blending warmth, humor, and depth, Rabbi Matzah offers a holiday experience that engages multiple generations at the table. The book serves as both a story and a teaching tool - ideal for Jewish day schools, religious education programs, synagogue libraries, and families seeking meaningful holiday engagement.
With its vibrant artwork, thoughtful pacing, and layered storytelling, Rabbi Matzah: The Sukkot Book transforms Sukkot from a lesson into a lived experience.
Part of the Rabbi Matzah holiday collection, this volume helps children discover that even something temporary can hold lasting meaning - and that sometimes the strongest shelter is the one built together.
Suitable for ages 6-10, and equally rewarding for adults reading alongside them.
