The Plant Decides is Book II of The Pipe Designer's Legacy. It goes where Book I could not: into the engine room of the running plant, into the physics that governs every routing decision before the designer makes it.
Because thinking correctly is not enough. A designer who understands responsibility but cannot recognise the signature of cavitation, predict the consequence of a pressure surge, or see why the small-bore connection on a vibrating pump is the most dangerous detail in the system is carrying only half the craft. This is not a textbook. It is the physics of the plant as it actually behaves - expressed through the equipment it serves and the failures that follow when the routing does not give the physics what it needs. The fluid's vapour pressure at summer operating temperature. The compressor's pulsation at partial load. The exchanger bundle-pulling corridor at the turnaround. The corrosion that does not care that the specification was wrong.

PART I - THE PHYSICS THE PLANT LIVES BY. Fluids, thermal behaviour, pressure dynamics, relief systems, and the vibration that accumulates invisibly until it does not.
PART II - THE EQUIPMENT. Pumps, compressors, exchangers, towers and vessels, valves and instruments - not objects to arrange in a model, but systems with personalities the designer must understand to route around them correctly.
PART III - THE STRUCTURE, THE MATERIALS, AND THE FIELD. Supports, the pipe rack, metallurgy and corrosion, brownfield tie-ins, the discipline interfaces where most failures begin, and a final chapter that proves mastery is not optional.
