Just Sit With Me is a short, deeply personal book about the harm caused by failed understanding. It explores what happens when your lived experience is heard, interpreted, corrected, or explained away before it has been truly received.
That kind of failure is not only frustrating. Over time, it can become lonely, destabilizing, and exhausting. You may begin to over-explain ordinary experiences, rehearse simple truths as if preparing legal testimony, or search for outside confirmation before trusting your own reality.
Drawing from lived experience, neurodivergent insight, and original research, M. Ian Niad explores the difference between hearing someone's words and receiving the reality those words are trying to carry.
