Bariatric surgery or stomach reduction surgery refers to a set of surgical techniques that help to drastically reduce weight. Aimed at morbidly obese patients, its purpose is to take the risk out of life. Today it has become a major medical investment and an instant solution to all the problems associated with obesity. This work was exploratory in nature and sought to study the impact of bariatric surgery on the couple relationship from the perspective of male spouses. Obesity surgery was a 'path' found as a magic formula to solve a problem that has multiple dimensions, and therefore leaves gaps and thus a need for research. This study sought to symbolise the meaning of surgery for husbands and how it affected their relationship. Surgery comes as a necessity for change, and thus dislodges the relationship. Separating isn't easy, it's surgery, in this case, surgery for two.
