One aspect of health management has only recently become the focus of scientific attention: the link between leadership behaviour and health. Numerous studies have demonstrated clear correlations between leadership and absenteeism, stress or exhaustion, job satisfaction, resilience and mental health among employees. 'Managers contribute to their own sick leave' is the conclusion of a study by the VW Group, which was able to establish a clear link between leadership and sick days taken by the VW team. When a manager from a department with high sick leave takes over a healthier department, the same sick leave rate is observed within a short period of time. This paper addresses this problem and, with the help of experts (employees in the author's field of work), investigates whether the results of empirical analyses on this topic can be confirmed in the author's field of work.
