Ce livre propose une méthodologie différente de celle des nombreux manuels d'anglais disponibles sur le marché. Dans un premier temps, il invite à découvrir les exigences de l'OACI afin de comprendre leur importance et de cibler précisément les points à considérer, sans perdre de temps sur des thématiques non requises par cette organisation. Nos auteurs, également pilotes de compagnies aériennes internationales, partagent leur expérience de vol accumulée tout au long de leur carrière, en mettant en lumière leurs interactions avec l'anglais dans le monde entier, aussi bien dans des situations normales que dans des situations inhabituelles.
Après avoir compris l'importance des exigences linguistiques de l'OACI, nous passerons au développement dans un ordre logique. Nous commencerons par apprendre le vocabulaire technique indispensable aux opérations aéronautiques, puis nous aborderons les modèles de phraséologie recommandés par l'OACI. Une fois ces nouveaux termes assimilés, nous explorerons les différentes situations pouvant survenir au cours des opérations quotidiennes, où le pilote devra être en mesure de les gérer en anglais, en utilisant la terminologie spécifique nécessaire pour communiquer efficacement avec son environnement. À l'issue de cette étape, il sera temps de prendre les commandes: nous découvrirons tout ce qui concerne un vol normal, en abordant la phraséologie, les communications PILOTE - TOUR - PILOTE, les annonces aux passagers et les autres échanges qui interviennent dans la routine quotidienne de l'exploitation. À l'arrivée à destination, nous envisagerons le vol retour et étudierons toutes les situations anormales pouvant survenir à chaque phase du vol, en maîtrisant les techniques de communication adaptées à chaque cas. Enfin, nous mettrons nos connaissances à l'épreuve à travers un examen final.
