Tammy Darling didn't know what she wanted to do with her life. She didn't have a dream, or a goal, like most people. She didn't have any desires for God to fulfill. On the other hand, Jacob, her best friend since second grade, always knew he wanted to be a doctor. When Tammy's gift of empathy became more pronounced following the arrival of Tyler Graves, who was rebellious and full of self-loathing, it was suggested that she use her gift as a psychologist to help people recognize their problems and learn to deal with them effectively. She prayed about it and believed this was the direction God wanted her to go. So, she and Jacob set out to begin the journey they planned for themselves as freshmen in high school, beginning with attending Missouri State University in Springfield.
However, it didn't take Tammy long to discover she had been wrong about everything. Tammy believed in miracles. She believed in the power of prayer and she believed all things worked for the good. But right now, she was having a hard time holding on to that belief. Not because she doubted God or His ability or His word, not at all, not in the least, it was herself she was doubting. She was doubting that she heard God correctly about what He wanted for her life. She was even doubting that she heard from Him at all. Now, she was wondering how she was going to explain being so wrong to her parents.
Ryan Edwards was going to be the manager of the new bank being built in Hope Springs. Ryan fell in love with the quaint little town when he was just a boy. His grandmother took him there at least once during each of the seasons, Winter and Fall festivals were his favorite. So, when he heard Missouri Bank was building a new location, he jumped at the opportunity to apply. He knew his chances were good because not many people wanted to live in a small town.
Ryan knew he made the right decision when he met Sheree Darling at The Closet. She made candles and was excited when he shared his hobby of wreath making with her. It had been just a hobby, a hobby that gave him peace when there was no peace, that gave him direction when he was lost and after he lost everything he knew, and it gave him hope in a time in his life that he desperately needed hope.
They worked out an arrangement to sell his holiday wreaths at her store. However, it wasn't until he met Tammy that he saw his hobby as something more. Because Tammy saw it as something more, something that he didn't see, hadn't seen. She pointed out that it was a gift from God. She made him realize that it was more than a hobby, it was art, that he created something beautiful out of ribbons and bows, something of value. It was through her eyes that he let go of his perception of how it looked for a grown man to make holiday wreaths and began to embrace it for what it was, a gift.
Tammy and Ryan, both, are on a road of new discoveries about themselves, their place in the world and God. It's on this road they explore the possibilities for the future and for where God was leading them. On this road they have to let go of their restricted limitations and learn to fully trust in the Lord.
