Rebecca Roberts was the local veterinarian and she had not missed a harvest in the past eight years. This morning, however, she would be late due to her appointment at the Crosby ranch. She had to make sure everything was lined up for their semi-annual vaccination of their herd. It was a long, hard process and she wanted to make sure that everything was ready for tomorrow.
As she drove back to Hope Springs, she was feeling a little out of sorts. She had been living there eight years now and she loved it, but she had the feeling it was time to move on. She had been there way too long and had gotten way too comfortable and probably way too careless. She didn't expect to find a place that made her feel like she was home, a place with loving and caring people. She never allowed herself to get close to anyone before, but she fell into the trap of the easy, peaceful feeling this community provided. She knew it would be hard to leave the place she called home for so long and the people she called family, but she would not put their lives in danger, and she had stayed much longer than she should have. She had been selfish but now it was time to think of others. She slowly drove through the beautiful, picturesque square of downtown with tears in her eyes just thinking of the possibility of having to move on from here.
As she drove to the pumpkin patch on Tucker Grave's property with the breakfast for the volunteers she had picked up from the Café, her mind was racing. She had gotten comfortable here, too comfortable and that could be dangerous. It had been a while since she allowed the presence of a stranger in town to make her nervous, make her remember why she was here in the first place. But seeing Rubin, a stranger, sitting all alone in the Café, when everyone else was at the harvest made it all come rushing back. It made her remember why she had to remain aware at all times, conscious and alert of everyone around her. If she didn't, she could end up dead.
Glendora Paulsen was the pastor of the church in Hope Springs and had been for the past twelve years. She was confident of who she was as a child of God, as a pastor and as a member of the community, but as a woman, she still had her reservations.
She was not a young girl any longer, she never dated. She never expected to meet anyone, especially now, at her age. She had responsibilities to the community, to its people. She was supposed to be the one who knew everything, the one who had all the answers, and for the most part, she did because she trusted the Lord to show me the way. She allowed the Holy Spirit to speak through her, but this..., this was her, this was personal, and she didn't know what to do. When it came to love, to dating, she didn't have all the answers and was afraid of making the wrong decision.
What if it isn't God? What if it's just my sinful flesh raising its ugly head and trying to get my focus on something other than God and teaching His word? She thought, fighting against the fear rising inside her.
Fear Not is a story of Faith, of how two beautiful, strong women of God must learn how to recognize the hold Satan has on their lives, keeping them bound, locked up in prison in their fear. Will love cast out all fear? Or will they continue on the path set before them, not listening to God's voice as He commands.... Fear Not!
