Faith Garrison was born and raised in the small town of Ozark, Missouri. Her parents had her late in life and they were dirt poor. The only thing they were able to give to her was an introduction to Jesus, which she clung to as if her life depended upon it.
She was made fun of in school because of the way she dressed. Charity stores and hand me downs from others were the source of her clothes. She was shy, awkward and alone. That didn't change when she entered high school.

High school was worse. Not only was she made fun of because of the way she dressed, but also because she was considered a 'Jesus Freak', but that didn't bother her. She was proud that people knew she loved the Lord.
Jackson Cole was from the other side of the tracks. He had been the most popular boy in school since first grade. He became even more popular when he and his best friends formed a band, with Jackson as the lead singer. Any time they saw Faith in school, they would burst out in song, a rendition of Billy Joel's uptown girl, although rewritten to words for downtown girl. Needless to say, it wasn't very flattering.
The summer after graduation Jackson made an effort to get to know Faith better, to apologize for his immaturity and to express his admiration for her. She was skeptical but his relentless efforts to gain her trust won out and they spent a wonderful summer together. She fell madly in love with him. But on the eve of his band's success, his tragic betrayal of Faith's trust destroyed all that was between them. She was left devastated with only her faith to pull her through the anguish and toward healing and moving forward with her life.
She had graduated from medical school and became a doctor. Jackson Cole and his band of merry men achieved success as the most famous rock band on the planet. It was many years later when their paths crossed again. Jackson would have to come face to face with his past and decide what he wanted his future to be.
Faith would feel the weight of her walk with God being tested. Could she be the example The Lord wanted her to be? Would she be able to fully forgive? How did one forgive the unforgiveable? Would Faith discover there is no place so dark that God's light cannot shine there? In doing so, she must force herself to step towards that light, despite the hurt and pain and walk in faith.
