Treatment of Mare in Foal and with Foal is a classic guide to managing and caring for a mare before and after it gives birth to a foal. It deals with every aspect of this period, offering the reader guidance on how to properly calculate the event and successfully manage both mother and baby. Contents include: Period of Foaling, Beneficial Effects of Warm Weather, Spring Grass, Evil Effects of Catarrhal Affections, Late Foals, Preparations for Mares about to Foal, Litter, Water, Anecdote, Term of Gestation, Attentions at the Time of Foaling, Indications, Assistance, The Foal, Treatment of Mare and Foal, Precaution against Wet, etc. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially-commissioned new introduction on breeding horses.
