Elon Musk created Tesla Bot Optimus with a vision of a robot in every home, office and hospital. While many people may not yet be able to fully conceptualize it, this is the future that awaits us.
The robot revolution will change our lives in ways we can't even yet imagine. With rapid advances in robotics technology, artificial intelligence and battery energy storage, society is on the cusp of witnessing a breakthrough in a new kind of industrial revolution - one that will see intelligent robots playing an increasingly important role in our everyday lives.
Autonomous humanoid robots carry with them the promise of cheap and dependable labor and the solution to worker shortages, economic scarcity and poverty. From lifting heavy objects to delivering groceries and packages and more, the potential applications of a humanoid robot are almost endless. And if you have a Tesla Bot climb into the driver's seat of any car, truck or boat, then suddenly everything becomes an autonomous vehicle.
Humanoid robots will usher in a new era of abundance, prosperity and happiness, freeing humans from the drudgery of manual labor and giving everyone the opportunity to live a life that's more meaningful and fulfilled. Up until now, only celebrities, royalty and the very rich can afford to live lives of luxury, leisure and abundance. But now robots are poised to pave the way to a wonderful new future, and Tesla is the perfect organization to make this vision a reality.
For hundreds of years, machines have been replacing human jobs and robots have already begun displacing human workers in several industries. For example, today most of the welding and painting of cars is done by giant robotic arms.
An increased rate of robot improvements will undoubtedly cause structural unemployment for billions of people. Many will become unemployed by no fault of their own as the labor they offer becomes too expensive and slow for any competitive company to hire. When people are no longer needed for their labor, they will need to redefine their purpose and mission in life. Many people define themselves by their jobs or chosen professions; however, when millions of people are no longer needed in the workforce, millions will have to find meaning for their lives and a purpose in something other than work.
Taking a big-picture view, there are only two paths forward for robotic automation: either we attempt to replace every human task with a specialized robot designed for that task, or we replace the human with a robot capable of performing all tasks. Humans constructed the world to interact with a bipedal humanoid with two arms and ten fingers. Therefore if you want a robot to be capable of performing all of the tasks that humans can do, then it must have roughly the same size, shape and capability as humans.
The robot revolution is officially upon us, and it's important to investigate how these machines will impact the workforce and our economy. Some people believe that robots will usher in an era of prosperity and abundance. Others caution against mass unemployment, danger to society and a widening of the gap between the rich and poor. As robots continue to replace human workers in many industries, we must consider how to best adapt to this brave new world.
