Most cybersecurity career advice ends at the moment yours should get interesting.
There are hundreds of guides on how to land your first security job. How to pass the CompTIA Security+, how to build a home lab, how to get noticed for a SOC analyst role. Good advice, most of it. But it stops at the front door. Almost nobody writes about the climb that comes after: the move from doing the work to leading the people who do it, and eventually to owning security for an entire organisation as its Chief Information Security Officer.
That climb is what this book is about.
It is for three kinds of reader. The first is the practitioner who is good at the technical work and has started to wonder whether the next step is another certification or a different kind of growth entirely. The second is the person already in a security or IT role who can see the leadership track and wants a map of how to get onto it deliberately rather than by accident. The third is the career changer who is entering security later, with hard-won experience from another field, and intends to aim for leadership from the start rather than spending a decade working up from the bottom.
